My love for culture started with my love of teams. From playing soccer as a kid, to managing a Dairy Queen in college, to leading in Aerospace & Defense—I’ve always believed in winning together. Some teams clicked. Others didn’t.

 

It wasn’t until my toughest assignment ever—under the hardest conditions, with the most unlikely group of people—that I truly understood culture. Everyone said we couldn’t do it. Yet somehow, that “group of misfits” became the highest-performing team I’d ever experienced. I needed to know why. What made this team work better than a handpicked group of high performers?
